Pot of Gold, eh Sounds grand, doesn’t it I mean, who wouldn’t want a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow Especially after a few pints down at Paddy’s Pub on a Friday night. That was my first thought anyway – this theme’s right up my alley! So, here we go…
So, Pot of Gold is a pretty standard 5-reel, 20-payline slot from Games Global (formerly Microgaming). The whole Irish shebang – shamrocks, leprechauns, pots of gold… it’s all there, but in a nice way. It’s not too over-the-top, you know?
The main symbols are your typical high-paying sorts — the golden harp, a horseshoe, a four-leaf clover, and of course, the cheeky little leprechaun fella himself. Then you’ve got your lower-payers which look suspiciously like playing cards, but hey, at least they’re colourful!
Now, the best part – the bonuses! There’s a free spins round triggered by three or more scatters (the rainbow symbol). Nothing revolutionary, but it’s always a bit of craic getting extra spins for nothing. Plus, during these rounds, your wins get tripled. Not bad, not bad at all!
Then there’s the pot of gold wild symbol. This guy substitutes for any other symbol except the scatter, so he can really help out sometimes. Don’t rely on him too much, though – I found he didn’t turn up half as often as I’d have liked!
One annoying thing, though – when you trigger the free spins, there isn’t actually a mini-game or anything interactive. Just straight into the freebies, which feels a tad lazy if you ask me. Ah well, you can’t win ’em all, right?
Simple enough to get started, really. Set your coin size anywhere from €0.01 to €1, then choose how many coins per line you want to bet. Minimum stake is €0.20 a spin (one coin on each of the twenty lines), while maxing it out will set you back €400 every time you hit spin. A bit steep for my blood, if I’m being honest!
Here’s a quick rundown:
It’s worth noting there isn’t an auto-play feature, so if you do decide to give it a bash, be prepared to click away yourself.
Some other odds & ends – RTP’s listed at 96%, and volatility seems fairly medium to me. Wins weren’t too hard to come by, but nor were they bank-breaking when they did show up. All good and fair, if you ask me!
For anyone new hopping onto Pot of Gold, here’s what I reckon you should keep in mind:
As far as approaches go, mine’s pretty simple: low bets, see how the winds blowing for the first fifty spins or so, then adjust accordingly. Don’t be afraid to walk if things aren’t going your way early doors – better safe than sorry, yeah?
If you do manage to rake in a tidy sum (which hopefully you will!), cash out sooner rather than later. Don’t get too greedy – remember that old pub saying “pride comes before a fall”, right?!
Luck wise… I mean, it’s a mixed bag, isn’t it Had my ups and downs while playing, same as any other slot, but nothing that made me shout curses at the heavens (yet!). The worst run I went on lasted maybe ten minutes tops before I clawed something back, so fingers crossed for you lot too!
Anyway, all in all, Pot of Gold is… well, it’s alright, you know Not my favourite, but definitely worth trying out if you’re into the Irish vibe. If you’ve played it already, great! What did you think Worth another punt sometime soon?
Righto, I think that’s about all from me for today. Maybe catch ye’s at the slots later Oh, and if anyone knows where I left me lucky coin, let me know, would ya Cheers!
